The human rights support project provides free legal assistance to persons whose rights were allegedly violated by the police.

How can the human rights support project help You?

As part of the free of charge legal counselling, legal officers participating in the project, undertake the following activities:

  • Interviewing and registration of findings
  • Photographing injuries and other evidence
  • Assistance to injured persons, in order to ensure proper documentation about the injuries
  • Collection of additional accompanying documentation
  • Providing advice on the legal remedies that are available to the potentional victims, including filing complaints with the MoI Sector for Internal Control and Professional Standards, Ombudsman Office, Public Prosecution Office, as well as private claims and civil suits
  • Assistance to the potentional victims in preparation of letters, claims and complaints, to the above mentioned institutions
  • Representing the potentional victims in the meetings with representatives from the state institutions and the courts
  • Monitoring in court proceedings
