In accordance with the Law on local elections (Official Gazette of RM no.45/04), the citizens at general, immediate and free elections elect members of the councils of the units of local self-government, the Council of the City of Skopje and for election of Mayor of the municipalities and Mayor of the city of Skopje .

The regular elections are held every fourth year and they are announced by the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia .

Besides, the primary arrangement of the local elections in October, 2004, they were held in March, 2005. Namely, the first election round was held at March 13 th , while the second at March, 27 th 2005 .

On its web site (www.dik.mk) the State Puling Commission announced the preliminary and the final results of the voting of the electorate and that is for every municipality and every election round by which it largely contributed to increase the transparency of the process of summing up the results of the voting.
